About the artist

"I was born in South Wales in 1953, and after a 30 year career in the Royal Air Force, I settled down in Cumbria to devote more time to my art, and my other passion - mountaineering. I am primarily self-taught, though I studied Art & Design at Moray College, Scotland and Cumbria Institute of the Arts at Carlisle. My preferred medium is oils though I frequently work in acrylic, charcoal and pastels. I enjoy "plein-air" painting in oils, usually in the Lake District and more recently in the Italian Dolomites. I could call myself a landscape artist but I relish the challenge of any subject, including painting murals on the walls of local restaurants"
